Negroni Week is June 6 – 12
For the third year in a row, Cilantro is proud to join 39 other Calgary restaurants to participate in Negroni Week. For each Negroni sold during Negroni Week, June 6 to June 12, 2016, Cilantro will be donating $1 to the The Women’s Centre in Calgary. Presented by Imbibe and Campari, Negroni Week is a worldwide celebration of the Negroni with a charitable aspect.
“Negroni week is the perfect opportunity for us to use our craft in a positive manner, Maddie Needles, Cilantro Manager. “We are thrilled to be able to support a local organization – The Women’s Centre – through making a drink that we love so much – the Negroni.”
Six of One, Half Dozen of the Other
Ingredients (equal parts):
Prairie Cucumber Vodka
Bombay Star of Bombay Gin
Served over ice in an old fashion glass and garnished with a large peel of grapefruit.
The Six of One, Half Dozen of the Other Negroni was created by CRMR’s Wine Director Brad Royale to highlight classic negroni style, but with a twist. “The inspiration behind this cocktail was to honor the original recipe by staying true to the nature of equal parts in a Negroni, while allowing for more layers of flavor by adding in more ingredients,” says Royale.
In 2015, more than 3,500 venues spread across 44 nations mixed their favorite Negroni and raised over $320,000.00 for charitable causes around the world – nearly triple to what was raised in 2014. Along with our Calgary counterparts, we look forward to growing that total for 2016, raising money for local charities and continuing to grow the movement of restaurants giving back to the communities in which they operate in. Through initiatives such as Mealshare, YYC Pizza Week and Negroni week, we really can turn dining out into helping out.
