Freshening up for its 30th Birthday, Cilantro will be closed from January 1, 2018 until February 2018 due to renovations in the casual and cozy restaurant. The renovations will focus mainly on updating the main floor by including new seating, tables, light fixtures and updated color scheme.
“Cilantro is known to be a cozy and classic restaurant, via its design, service and menu, says Justine Cockx, Director of Purchasing & Design. “We are refreshing it to be a bit more stylish and casual, while still retaining its rustic character and charm.”
The menu will be receiving a small refresh as well, as Chef Lancelot Monteiro moves to a more Canadiana style menu by incorporating more elk and bison from CRMR’s own game ranch, as compared to Southwestern California fare. The menu will continue to focus on flat-bread style pizzas and fresh house-made pasta, but infused with CRMR’s signature Rocky Mountain Cuisine.
Complementing the menu is Cilantro’s award-winning wine menu designed by Brad Royale, CRMR Wine Director, as well as a new cocktail menu that will focus on classics with a twist. Cilantro’s wine menu has most recently won Platinum at the Vancouver International Wine Festival as well as Gold for the Best Overall Wine List, Most Comprehensive Wine List and Best By the Glass list by Culinaire Magazine.
During the holiday season, Cilantro will be closed from December 24 to 28. The restaurant will be open again on December 29 and 30 with a reduced menu. On New Year’s Eve, Cilantro will be featuring a 5-course dinner for $95 with optional wine pairings.
For those who can’t wait till mid-February for their seared beef tenderloin slices or pear and gorgonzola pizza fix, reservations are recommended for the last few days before Cilantro closes for renovations.
Renovations are expected to be complete mid-February, and Cilantro will be re-opening to the public to celebrate its 30th year on Calgary’s 17th Ave SW. Reservations for Valentines Day on February 14th and will be available, and we will start taking bookings in mid-January.
